In-Sight D900 Assigned IP 0.0.0.0 When Disconnected from PLC

Explanation for communications issue that can arise from a configuration mistake with the In-Sight D900.

2024. 09. 15.

Details

Issue:

When the In-Sight D900 is disconnected from the from PLC it is assigned the IP address 0.0.0.0

Cause:

This is likely due to the option to have the PLC project assign the IP address checked in configuration while setting up the In-Sight D900 module.  If the PLC is no longer connected on ProfiNET with the D90x then it will be assigned a 0.0.0.0 IP address.

Resolution:

To fix this, use the PLC software (TIA or Step7) to switch the IP Address over DHCP which will clear the 0.0.0.0 IP address flag.  They browse all ProfiNET nodes and select the In-Sight D90x with the 0.0.0.0 IP address and edit the IP address in the dialog there.  After that, go into the device configuration in Step7 or TIA and uncheck the box to allow the PLC project to set the IP address.

PROFINET Commander is a 3rd-party software that runs as a PROFINET I/O controller and allows you to quickly connect to I/O Devices without having to deal with PLC programming, and can be found at https://profinetcommander.com/    (Un-install Zscaler if possible)

The best way to avoid this if possible is to set the Protocol to None within the Industrial Ethernet settings of the camera before disconnecting it from PLC.
