How to Strobe a Light in Cognex Designer When Strobe is Not a Visible Option

Issue:

When attempting to set up their GigE camera to strobe during acquisition, the GigE parameters did not allow for setting an output line to strobe.

Resolution:

In the Cognex Designer task view, perform the following steps:

1. Open Image Source
2. Select your camera
3. Go to the Custom Properties tab
4. Add the following properties:
5. AcquisitionTrigger → TriggerSelector = FrameStart
6. AcquisitionTrigger → TriggerSource = Line1
7. AcquisitionTrigger → TriggerActivation = RisingEdge
8. DigitalIO → LineSelector = Line2
9. Close the Image Source and re-open
10. Add DigitalIO → LineMode = Output
11. Add DigitalIO → LineInverter = Checked
12. Close Image Source and re-open
13. Add DigitalIO → LineSource = ExposureActive
14. Move LineSource above LineInverter
15. Close Image Source
16. Now the light on the camera should strobe when you take a picture
