Issue installing In-Sight Explorer on Windows 11 PCs in which the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable Package causes an error stopping In-Sight Explorer from being installed

21/10/2025

Question

I'm trying to install In-Sight Explorer on a new Windows 11 PC and I get a message saying:

Cognex In-Sight Software 6.5.1 requires the following items to be installed on your computer. Click Install to begin installing these requirements.

  • Microsoft Visual C++ 2013 Redistributable Package (x86)
  • Microsoft Visual C++ 2013 Redistributable Package (x64)
  • Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 (Windows Feature)

These Redistributables are already installed on my PC and this message is stopping me from installing the software.

How can I fix it?

Answer

This issue can be resolved by manually uninstalling the Redistributables from the Add or Remove Programs Windows Menu. Once you've uninstalled them, re-run the In-Sight Explorer Installer and it will re-install the redistributables and install the software.
