How to configure IP address with OLED display for corded and wireless Ethernet DataMan 8700?

Answer

Here are the steps to configure the IP address for corded Ethernet DataMan 8700.

  1. Active the OLED display , navigate to “Communications” in the following way.
    Main Screen >> Settings >> Communications
  2. Select “OFF” for DHCP if user wants to use static IP and navigate to “IP Address”.
  3. Click the Action Button that displays a pencil and input the IP address for the reader. Please use three digits. For example, if user wants to set the IP address as 192.168.1.19, then user should enter 192.168.001.019.
  4. After inputting the IP address, exit digit input mode, click the Action Button to apply the setting. Then the OLED display will display “Changed”.
  5. User can configure the Subnet Mask in the same way.
  6. Exit IP address configuration mode and the reader will reboot by itself. The new IP address will be effective after rebooting.

For wireless DataMan 8700, there are some differences from the corded DataMan 8700. Please follow below instruction.

  1. Before configuring IP address, make sure the reader and base station have already paired.
  2. Configure IP address and Subnet Mask in the same way as corded DataMan 8700.
  3. After configuring the IP address and Subnet Mask, put the reader on the base station. The OLED display will display already paired messages.
  4. Exit IP address configuration mode and navigate to “Communications” setting, the OLED display will display rebooting base messages. Then the base station will reboot. After rebooting, the new IP address will be effective for both the reader and the base station.
